Rex

So, I bet I can guess your first question!  What is Rex?!?

Well, Rex is a name I’ve given to two ideas I’ve been working on.  There is Rex OS and RC Rex.

Rex OS

As the name implies Rex OS is an operating system I’m developing to be used in RC Rex.  For the jargon inclined, Rex OS is a real-time operating system built using a microkernel architecture.  It is currently being written on an x86 system and I plan to port it to ARM as well as whatever microcontroller I choose for RC Rex.  I intend to release the source, so check back for more info on how to grab that when it becomes available.

RC Rex

In the spirit of embedded real-time systems I decided that the best way to satiate my curiousity was to build something from scratch.  RC Rex is just that something, it is an RC car that will be running Rex OS and will be able to interact with its environment.  RC Rex is at an even more primitive stage than Rex OS so the usual “check back as this develops” applies here too.

Please do stay tuned to my blog as I will post information about my work as it progresses.
